It was recently announced that IBM is buying human resources management company Kenexa Corp. for about $1.3 billion. IBM will be adding this cloud based solution to compete with the likes of Oracle PeopleSoft, Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS), and SAP. With a focus on mid-market solutions Microsoft does not yet provide the level of HR functionality in the Microsoft Dynamics family of software that is offered in these competitive solutions.
The question is: does the mid-market need this level of sophistication? According to Bryan Wilton, President, InterDyn BMI, there is already ample HR functionality in Microsoft Dynamics ERP. He is quoted several times in a Microsoft Dynamics World article highlighting how HR functions are already available either as ISV solutions or built in to the ERP software.
For WatServ the interesting part of this news release is that IBM is investing 1.3 billion dollars in a cloud company. ERP and other business functions are moving to the cloud.
