Microsoft announced the general availability of Cloud Services (extended support). This is a new Azure Resource Manager (ARM)-based deployment model for Azure Cloud Services. This release provides regional resiliency and feature parity with Azure Cloud Services deployed using Azure Service Manager (ASM), as well as ARM capabilities such as role-based access and control, tags, policy, private link support and use of deployment templates.
Build secure manufacturing operations with nesting capabilities for Azure IoT Edge

This month, Microsoft announced the general availability of nesting capabilities for Microsoft Azure IoT Edge. These conform to the ANSI/ISA-95 standard for network isolation and make it easier for organizations to benefit from IoT, including Azure Defender for IoT, Azure IoT Edge security enclaves, Device Update for IoT Hub and Azure Digital Twins.
Hackers Exploit Unpatched VPNs to Install Ransomware on Industrial Targets

A new string of ransomware, called “Cring”, was deployed inside the corporate networks of several industrial enterprises that have unpatched Fortinet VPN devices. The hacking attacks occurred between January and March 2021 and at least one incident led to a temporary shutdown of a production site.

Known as “Saint Bot,” this malware was first detected in January 2021 and has since gained momentum. It uses a variety of sophisticated technologies to enable phishing attacks that deploy credential stealers and other malicious payloads. Although its capabilities aren’t extensive, the fact that Saint Bot serves as a downloader for other malware makes it a concern.
Azure adds programmatic pricing API to help you sniff out global deals

Microsoft has updated its Retail Rates API to provide retail pricing information in over 15 currencies. This offers a new, programmatic way for Azure customers to get pricing information without using the Azure Pricing Calculator or the Azure portal. There is a specific syntax to follow, and the output is in JSON.
