We recently shipped 1,000 Windows 8 Mobile devices to one of our top clients who will be equipping every field sales representative with the new tool. For us making the decision to standardize on Windows 8 to support our award-winning Keyora Field Sales application was easy. Here are some of the top reasons we switched to a Windows 8 Mobile Device strategy for our manufacturing and distribution applications.

Security

Windows has always had strong management and security features but with Windows 8 they’ve added more features that are especially attractive to enterprises who need to protect sensitive corporate data on mobile devices. For example, companies continue to be hit by malware which can hide deep inside operating systems and hijack the boot process itself. Windows solves this problem by embedding Trusted Boot technology which only allows trustworthy software to execute. And enhanced biometrics for user authentications and data removal ensures that your encrypted corporate data is further protected.

Microsoft invests heavily in R&D, spending significantly more than most other software companies (on average 17% of revenues annually). This investment has paid off with Microsoft seeing a significant reduction in security vulnerabilities over its closest competitors.

Keyora Field Sales Runs on Gartner Ranked Market Leading MS SQL DBMS

Leading research analyst Gartner regularly ranks technology offerings through a system known as the “Magic Quadrant”. Microsoft SQL is categorized as a market leader for enterprise database solutions.
Our Keyora Field Sales product is designed to optimize Microsoft SQL on a mobile platform, which is why you can realize features like the on-net/off-net capabilities of our solution – something that our competitors wish they could do too.

  • Market vision and capabilities — SQL Server now has strong HA (high availability) and DR (disaster recovery) capabilities with Database Mirroring using Windows Clustering and AlwaysOn for remote replication. Speed

Windows 8 Devices are benefiting from some significant Internet Explorer management features delivering faster page load times and side-by-side browsing. According to Dell Executive Director Sarah Shields, Windows also improves network connectivity.

“It will give employees enhanced mobile broadband when working away from a PC with the benefit of the system checking across the available Wi-Fi connections and automatically connect the user to the one providing the best bandwidth”.

One of the features that we’ve been able to leverage with our Keyora Field Sales application is the ability to carry the “enterprise on a tablet”. Fast synching enables a field sales agent to be offline at Point of Order. It is not unusual when meeting with clients in warehouses or basements for there to be no internet connectivity. To accelerate the order process, the sales representative needs up-to-date current information and with our application taking advantage of Windows 8 synching and caching features, we can deliver all the data they need to complete a client order quickly and accurately.

Improved support for mobile broadband and embedded wireless radio is also delivering better power savings and a longer battery life while enabling thinner, less expensive mobile devices. Some vendors for example offer an enterprise-ready Windows 8 tablet with over 200GB of hard drive capacity for as little as $400, helping to build attractive ROI business models for mobility initiatives. And a long battery life means getting a full day’s work out of a mobile device before needing to recharge.

Windows 8 tablets natively run all of the Microsoft productivity tools like Outlook and Microsoft Office. Lync further enables collaboration and communication, continuing to drive enterprise value.

Touch, Keyboards and Ease of Use

The Windows 8 Device touch screens are as easy to use as a finger swipe. But for those who prefer non-touch, keyboards are almost always included or optional pens make it simple to navigate and tap to move through applications and windows.

Users are comfortable with Windows. It has been the business operating system for decades. Field sales require little or no training meaning fast and easy deployments when rolling out the Keyora Field Sales app.
