Cloud computing has become increasingly significant in recent years. Predictions state that by 2016 45% of IT budgets will be devoted to the cloud. Even though it was once unknown, it has become a buzzword in the technology industry. Surveys continue to be carried out on previous and future growth. Here are some of the SaaS & Cloud stats that we collected.
Of the U. S. Small & Medium Businesses surveyed:
- 38% like getting new features faster
- 50% reported savings when using Microsoft
- 60% view improving IT collaboration as important
With the constant updates in technology, it’s a surprise that there aren’t more than 38% of businesses that want the more features. It’s also great to note that 60% of SMBs view IT collaboration as important; the more we work together, the more advanced our technology can get.
Not only should they be working together, but you want people who know the cloud. Approximately 21% are looking to hire new staff with cloud experience, and about 1.7 million cloud-related jobs worldwide went unfilled in 2012.
On top of all this cloud growth, SaaS (software-as-a-service) in particular has grown more than ever. SaaS is cited as 82% of today’s cloud investments. Not only that, but Gartner predicts SaaS market will grow at a steady CAGR of 19.5% through 2016, having increased the forecast slightly (.4%) since its latest published report.
With cloud computing growing exponentially every year, we are excited to see what the future brings! Here are more stats on the growth of cloud, and what WatServ predicts the cloud computing future holds.
